Narrative
A third party called operations at 15:10 on 5/4/2011 of a release at newton station. The upstream pump station personnel shutdown the pipeline, and the local area technician for newton station was dispatched. Since the release was at the pump, the technician blocked in and blew down the pump piping. The release was determined to be a failure of the cooling tubing on the outboard pump bearing housing that was flowing product as coolant. The pump was not operating at the time of discovery of the release and is currently blocked in, blown down and tagged out pending repair. The pipeline bypassing the pump was restarted at 20:04 on 5/4/2011.
