Jet fuel low pressure booster pump mechanical seal failed. Excessive vibration contributed to the seal failure. Found the bearing oil had leaked out of the bearing housing. The pump had been operating earlier in the day. The pump was monitored during its operation. There was no evidence of leakage at that time. The pump was not operating at the time of the release discovery. The associated tank to the booster had been pumped down to its normal low level. 3/13/2013 - updated e5f per PHMSA request.
