Narrative
On july 5, 2010, a private landowner was performing road work on his property adjacent to a pond and within the dixie pipeline designated row. The landowner did not contact one-call and did not contact dixie. The landowner hit the 8-inch dixie pipeline on his property with his dozer. A gouge and split from the dozer that penetrated through the wall of the pipeline resulted in a release of propane that led to a subsequent explosion and fire. The landowner, who was operating the dozer, was injured by the release. One fatality resulted from the subsequent explosion and fire with additional property damage ensuing. The operator took immediate action to isolate the pipeline and reduce the impact to the public and the environment.
