Narrative
A fire occurred at approximately 1245 hours on 9/1/10 at a residence at 3384 willow street and quickly spread to the homes at 3382 willow street and then 20992 first street. A pg&e gas construction crew happened to be driving by and observed the smoke from the fires at 1345 hours. The crew drove to the scene and was able to shut off the gas at the service valve at the first two structures on willow street where the meters were unaffected by the fire. The gas crew was not able to reach the service valve at the house on first street before the heat from fire had melted the gas meter set releasing gas which contributed to the fire. The gas service for the first street house was cut off at the main in the street at 1450 hours. Three customers lost gas service. This incident became reportable to the cpuc and DOT when it was determined that damages would exceed $50,000. One person received minor injuries and refused treatment; there were no fatalities. The cause of this incident is currently under investigation. Gas service to the customers will be restored upon completion of repairs to the homes.
