Narrative
On saturday septemeber 18, 2010 the dwelling under construction at 21021 w circle was apparantly struck by lightning at approxiamtely 0630hrs., the gas service to the dwelling suffered a gas failure below ground at approxmately 14" from the service riser and ignited from the extense heat from the fire. The omaha fire department extinguished the fire on both the service and the dwelling. 2/13/12- our investigation assisted by the nenraska state fire marshal's office has determined that failure of the tranmission line was directly related to intense heat that was generated from the burniing debris that fell from the dwelling. The metropolitan utilities district has closed it's investigation and file in regard to this matter. 6/15/12- our investigaton revealed that the damage/loss was the direct result from the intense heat from the burning debris that fell from the dwelling onto the meter set and ground surrounding the meter set, this burning debris caused the gas service to melt inside the pigtail of the service riser and the release of the natural gas.
