Paint contractor began to sandblast and paint on the 16 " anr line # 678, on the eugene island blk. 250 platform (an el paso facility). A leak was discovered in an area under a pipe support. Natural gas was released. Subsequently, all work was stopped and the sandblasters left the platform and called in, notifying operations personnel of the leak. The leak was checked out by one of the measurement teams; all valves were shut-in and notifications to the manager were made. A repair plan is being developed, while the line is out of service. A repair was completed in late 2012. A bolt-on repair clamp was used. The was placed back into service.
