Narrative
On april 19, 2010, at approximately 10:58am a gas damage was reported in the vicinity of route 518 and old georgetown road in franklin, nj. A trap rock construction crew, working for somerset county under markout request (100771201), was excavating using mechanized equipment to install new road drainage piping. During the excavation the backhoe struck a six inch gas main, operating at 60psi. The blowing gas subsequently ignited, causing damage to the backhoe, two dump trucks, and overhead electric and telecommunication facilities. No injuries occurred as a result of the damage.
